Just Thinking of Ideas

One of my favorite things about teaching was integrating literature and art projects. For example, if the class read a book about rainbows, then we painted rainbows and hung them around the room. When Alli was little, I had all sorts of books with ideas (darn it--I'm pretty sure I gave them all away years ago)....I had a book of finger puppet patterns, so after reading Little Red Riding Hood, you'd make the puppets.

Caleb is still a little young for those ideas, but another activity I saw on the internet was to fill a bucket with water and ivory soap and let him make bubbles and foam by cranking an egg beater. It builds fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and is fun....and he loves water. Think I'll give something like that a try. Not today, however, because it's supposed to rain and I don't think I want him in my house with a bucket of water!
